Each face of the column is painted with its own pattern: stacked diamond and floral medallions, trailing vines and leaf motifs in red, green, orange, gold and turquoise, with fine raised dot-work picking out the details. The stepped top and base are painted with small flowers and borders to match, and the colours have a softly aged finish that gives it a warm, lived-in look.
