Varanasi Weavers
These stoles come from the historic city of Varanasi, on the banks of the sacred River Ganges, known locally as Mother Ganga, which has inspired the city’s artisans for centuries. Varanasi is renowned for its Banarasi silk, famous for its softness and elegance, which has made Banarasi silk saris highly sought after for their intricate designs.

The hand weavers of Varanasi have practised their craft for centuries, often working on simple wooden looms in their own homes or in small workshops throughout the city.

Like the city’s famous saris, the stoles often feature floral and paisley patterns. The paisley motif is traditionally said to ward off bad luck, and these patterns are deeply woven into the cultural fabric of the region.
