A small hand-carved box made from sheesham wood in India, decorated with a diamond lattice pattern with a carved flower in every diamond. The design covers the lid and all four sides, and the dark stained finish brings out the depth of the carving.
Sheesham, also known as Indian rosewood, is a dense, hard-wearing hardwood prized by Indian craftsmen for its strength and attractive grain, and it holds carved detail beautifully.
The hinged lid closes with a decorative brass clasp, and the box sits on a shaped base with cut-out feet. Inside, it’s plain wood, ready for jewellery, keepsakes, letters or small treasures.
Its compact size makes it easy to place on a dressing table, desk or shelf, and it makes a thoughtful small gift or stocking filler.
